The assistant coach of Vojvodina FC, Vladica Grujić believes that his team didn’t show their true face in the defeat against Novi Pazar.

The players of the Old Lady were defeated tonight at Karađorđe with the result 0:1, and Grujić highlights that the goal they received early on in the game, defined the direction of the match.

  • A strange game, in the last two matches some unexplainable things happen, which don’t happen in 10 years. The match hadn’t even started, and it was already 0:1. They are a serious and strong team. They defended themselves for 90 minutes, and we knew they had serious counter-attacks. They had a few more situations, and what can I say, it is difficult after a match like this one. That goal affected the direction of the game. After that, they defended constantly, and we couldn’t find the key to open up their defence. They had several counter-attacks and chances. This is not our true face, and we hope that things will be better in the upcoming games – Vladica Grujić said.

He also reflected on the changes in the starting 11, because the team captain Njegoš Petrović didn’t start the match, just like Mihai Butean, who used to be standard in the starting 11.

  • That is the decision of the coach. Of course, we discussed it, we believed in our players, you know the quality of Nikolić, Savićević, and Poletanović, but things happened like they did. We cannot guess whether it would have been better if Njegoš started the match. In general, some well-practised things didn’t function in the team who played the previous match, but those are our players who got the chance to play tonight. We talked during the halftime, we tried to motivate the players to think that the score is 0:0, because we have time to get back in the game and change the result, we had that one missed chance by Depu. In some matches that ball enters the net, it went almost along the goal line, and went out. I say once again, we believe that this team can achieve much more. There were too many individual mistakes in the last two games, but we have to move forward – Grujić said.

In the next round, Vojvodina is playing against the team of Spartak, on Sunday from 7 pm.
