The head of staff of Vojvodina FC, Miroslav Tanjga is optimistic after today’s draw for the semifinals of the Serbian Cup, which matched Vojvodina and TSC.
Vojvodina will be the host of the team from Bačka Topola on May 7th at Karađorđe stadium, which will be just one in a row of finales until the end of the season.
- I was expecting something like this, to potentially have two derbies, in the semifinals and in the finale, if we manage to qualify, and I hope that we will. We have to show who and what we are, this is a true Vojvodinian derby that will decide a new finalist and for us it is highly important to have the chance to play the second finale in a row. I am certain that it will be a good match, with high stakes, we got a worthy opponent, and I am sure that we will prepare well, and enter the semifinals as if it was the finale – Tanjga said.
The midfielder Marko Mladenović believes that everything is possible in the Cup matches.
- Each cup game is 50-50, and that is the case in the entire Europe, because anything can happen in 90 minutes. It is a good thing for us that we will be playing in front of our fans, at our stadium, and we will give it our all to secure placement in the finale. It is important to keep raising the form, and to play even better – Marko Mladenović stated.
The match with TSC is scheduled for May 7th, between two difficult away matches, against OFK Beograd on May 3rd, and Red Star on May 11th.
- In this play-off every game is like a finale to us, and we keep repeating that at our meetings. This match against TSC is also on that list now, and we will approach the game as another one that can bring us a lot. We reached a moment in the season when if you lose one game, you have far less chances for Europe. We have to give our maximum, and I made a plea to my players that until the end of the season they have to be fully dedicated, to a live a sports lifestyle, to eat healthy, rest, and live for football, because in this period a lot is decided. It is not the same whether you play the Cup finale, or whether you manage or don’t manage to take the third or fourth position that leads to Europe. They also have a motif, because they should think about their future engagements, because they can remain remembered as a club that played the Cup finale or managed to secure placement to Europe. We have the potential, and we can do it, we have to set our minds right and know what we want. With TSC we are playing two games at home in just 10 days, again in a short period of time, just like we did against Mladost, which might be a problem, but we are both in the same situation. We will get to know each other better. I hope that there will be a lot of fans and that this will be a real derby, because the stakes are high – Tanjga highlighted.
TSC is a traditionally uncomfortable rival of Vojvodina FC, because the Old Lady has only one victory, and that is from April 2024.
- TSC is serious club, the players come and go, but they are always in the top. We saw them twice in Humska against Partizan, both times they played for the result, first they drew 0:0, and then they secure placement to the Cup semifinals with penalties. They are one unpredictable team, they have experienced players, and young players who are eager for affirmation. The match will be difficult and interesting, but I believe in our team, especially because they know that we are playing in Novi Sad – Tanjga concluded.
