The coach of Vojvodina FC, Nenad Lalatović believes that Zenit deserved to win in a friendly match at Gazprom Arena.
The players of the Old Lady lost tonight with the result 4:1, and Lalatović congratulated the Russian champion on their victory.
- I would like to congratulate both teams on their game. We arrived this morning at 5 am, we didn’t get much sleep, and we arrived without 4 of our players who are on an international break. We received the first goal from offside, but it doesn’t make the victory of Zenit less important. Later on, we played like I wanted, but received naive goals. However, you could see that Zenit is a club on a high level, a great club with amazing players, excellent foreign players who make a difference. We tried to be on the same level without our srandard players for as long as we could. We now turn to our championship, I have just taken over the team, and the players need to adapt to my style of playing, because they need to learn to play more aggressively, closer to the player in order for the results to be better – Lalatović said.
The coach of Vojvodina also evaluated the team of Zenit, and answered the question where he sees them in European football.
- With this team and this way of playing they could achieve a lot in Europe. I cannot say Champions League, but definitely Europa League. They have many of those quality foreigners who make a difference, in both directions. As a team they play in both directions, they have speed, they attack the space, play well even without the ball. When they return to European competitions, I am sure their role will be noticeable – Lalatović underlined.
His assistant, Milan Vještica is the ex-player of Zenit, which Russian journalists haven’t forgotten.
- My great friend, Milan, told me only the best about your club, and there are no more words to say about Zenit. The whole world knows about this club with rich tradition, and he didn’t have to tell me a lot, I knew where I was coming – Nenad Lalatović concluded.
The expedition of Vojvodina returns to Novi Sad on Sunday, where they will continue preparing for the upcoming championship match against Jedinstvo, on Saturday at 6pm.
