The coach of Vojvodina FC, Ranko Popović is pleased with the performance and the victory of his team over Napredak.
The players of the old lady defeated Napredak with the result 2:0, and Popović was pleased to see his ex-co-player and friend, Vladimir Gaćinović.
- I am really happy that after so many years I can sit next to my ex-co-player and compete against one another, because we know each other from some different time when football was different. As for the match, we started a bit nervously, but I think there was no reason for that. We knew that with the arrival of Vlada Gaćinović, Napredak has advanced their play, which was confirmed by their previous matches. I asked from my players to be patient and don’t rush, but we did in some moments and didn’t manage to achieve the play we wanted. Matheus was back from his break, he gave us stability, and then we scored two beautiful goals. Even before the match, I told the players that we can sometimes shoot outside the penalty area, and not enter the penalty with each ball. I didn’t expect that we could give the goals we saw tonight. In the second half I replaced Matheus for preventive reasons, and I think that with Nikolić we had control and we were striving towards it. After a few lost balls, we showed pressure. I am pleased with the win and the points, and that with these goals we showed that we can play in this manner – Popović said.
To the question whether he was expecting the team to win another 6 points in the two remaining matches, Popović answered that he would give his all.
– I heard even before this match that they wrote down all 9 points in 3 games, and now there are six in the game, but I can’t promise in advance something that you wrote down in advance. I can promise you that we will try and do our all to continue threading this path, and playing like we have so far. How many points can we take, I cannot say, I am not David Copperfield, I don’t do magic, only work, which I think you can see on the pitch. If the boys fulfil what we want, then we will certainly be close to achieving that – Popović concluded.
In the next round, Vojvodina is playing against Radnički in Niš, and that match is scheduled for Saturday at 2 pm.
