Ranko Popović, the coach of Vojvodina FC repeated that he believes in his team’s quality, and that they will show it already at the next match against Radnički from Niš.

In the fourth round of Mozzart Bet Superleague of Serbia, Voša is welcoming the team of Radnički from Niš, and the coach of the ‘old lady’ is optimistic about this match.

– We are getting to know each other and work on our path towards the goals we set. The expectations have to be the same from day one, and that is, we have to be aware where we stand and the greatness of the club we play for, and its significance. The players should be happy to be a part of this club and show that on the pitch. If they do so in the way we demand, there won’t be any problems. Not for one second do I want to underestimate the opponent, but we want to be the ones who will dominate the field at every moment. It is not realistic to expect that during the whole 90 minutes, but if it happens, I will not object – Popović stated.

He underlined that the expectations in Vojvodina are different, but they bring a positive pressure.

– When you find yourself in the situation we are in now, that you lost a few games at the start of the season, it is not the same as in some other club used to bad results. We automatically have higher expectations and that brings pressure, and when you’re under pressure, it is harder to perform, the brain works differently. I tried to explain to the players that the pressure is for the privileged, and that a player should be happy to have the opportunity to feel it. We want to liberate our players from that negativity associated with pressure, we want them to be ready and show their maximum when that is expected. We are still getting to know each other, but believe me that everyone has equal chances to play, and that it is their responsibility to fight for the opportunity.  Still, some will have to gain more continuity, and when they do, things will go smoothly. We need the result and we will play for the result, but we also need to enter the finish calmly. When I compare our footballers and those abroad, our players feel angry when they score, mad about the pressure, criticism, and when you are angry you cannot be the best version of yourself. Abroad, players are happy when they score. I want to see that joy in the eyes of my players, and I want them to enjoy the game more. Players cannot achieve more than they’re capable of, but if they do what they can and give it their all, then it has to be good. In the last match, we created a lot of chances, the ball didn’t go in the net, but I don’t think anyone who is a fan of Vojvodina FC was angry, maybe under the weather, but no one would criticize us if we don’t score given that we play like we did in the last match – Popović pinpointed.

Voša’s coach admitted that he was excited about the debut before the fans at Karađorđe.

– I don’t have stage fright, but I am excited. The audience is demanding, but that is what want. When somebody expects something from you, it means they have respect for you. And when they show such respect, enter the pitch and earn back their respect by working hard and giving your everything. If that is on the level we need, the results will come – Popović said.

All the players are available for the match, except for Siniša Tanjga and Asmir Kajević.

  • Aside from Tanjga and Kajević, everyone else is ready and hopefully in a good mood – Popović concluded.
