Former Vojvodina footballer, 22-year-old Mirko Topić, will continue his career playing for the Portuguese first league team Famalikao.
He left Novi Sad yesterday and traveled to Portugal, where today he underwent medical examinations and signed a contract with his new club. When leaving, he said that he was excited about continuing his career in one of the strongest European leagues, but at the same time he was sorry to leave the Old Lady.
– My feelings are mixed. On the one hand, I am very happy and satisfied that I finally managed to go abroad, which I have been looking forward to for some time and I am looking forward to a new challenge. On the other hand, I am leaving a club where I have spent 12 years and to which I am personally attached in every sense. It is not easy for me because I am leaving the club, the city and the people I love. Vojvodina gave me everything, here I grew into a football player and a man, and here some of my development crystallized – says Topić.
As someone who passed all categories at the Ilija Pantelić Youth Academy, he was included in the first team in the 2018/19 season, and for Voša in the senior competition he played 113 games, scored four goals and made one assist, and was part of the team who won the Serbian Cup in 2020.
– From Vojvodina, I will remember the people from FC Vujadin Boškov the most, since I am attached to them. I had a really phenomenal relationship with the employees and I was like a son to them, and they were like parents to me. I will surely miss that a lot. On the football side, I was part of a generation that made some nice successes. I participated in winning the Cup, although I did not play in the final, and this season we made a streak of over 20 games without defeat. There is definitely a lot that will remain in my memory – said Topić.
The football club Vojvodina thanks its now former football player for everything he has provided while wearing the Old Lady jersey and wishes him all the luck and success in his future career.
