Sad and shocking news hit everyone in the football club Vojvodina today. The sports director of FK Vojvodina, Milan Kosanović, passed away at the age of 50 as a result of the corona virus infection. An exceptional sports worker, a top football expert, a true friend and a man who with his knowledge, charisma and work gave an immeasurable contribution to the overall development of FK Vojvodina left us.
Milan Kosanović was born on November 22, 1971 in Novi Sad, and he dedicated his career mostly to the football club Vojvodina, where he performed numerous functions. During his first period of stay in Vojvodina, which lasted for a full seven years, he worked as a coach of the youth team, assistant coach of the first team and coordinator of the Youth Academy Ilija Pantelić. As the coach of the U-18 team of Vojvodina, he won two consecutive titles in the Youth League of Serbia and gave birth to many future first team players of the Old Lady, such as Sergej Milinković-Savić, Mijat Gaćinović, Radovan Pankov, Emil Rockov, Nebojša Kosović and many others.
As a member of the coaching staff of FK Vojvodina, he participated in winning the Serbian Cup in 2014, the first in the history of the club.
His specialty was working in younger categories, and with his special methods of work he influenced the career development of many students of Voša’s Youth Academy, after which he received an invitation from Veljko Paunović, the then Manager of the U-20 national team of Serbia. Kosanović was an extremely important member of the coaching staff that led the U-20 national team of Serbia to the historic title of world champion in New Zealand in 2015.
Later, Kosanović was successfully a member of the coaching staff of Red Star since 2017, and he then cooperated with Vladan Milojević in Al Ahli too. He returned to Novi Sad in the fall, when he became the sports director of Vojvodina.
Information regarding the place and holding of the funeral and commemoration will be announced later, and the football club Vojvodina expresses its sincere and deep condolences to his family, friends, as well as to everyone who knew him.
