On the occasion of the National Day, which is celebrated today in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, Vojvodina Football Club congratulates today’s holiday to all citizens of our country, to all sports clubs and alliances, as well as to all football and state institutions.
The National Day of Serbia was reminiscent of the day when, in 1804 in Orašac, started the first Serbian Uprising led by Đorđe Petrović Karađorđe, by whom the Vojvodina Stadium was named.
Also, on today’s day in 1835 in Kragujevac, the first Constitution of the Principality of Serbia was adopted, which was so-called Sretenjski constitution, which was one of the most modern, most democratic and most liberal constitutions of its time, and which in Serbia officially abolished feudalism.
The National Day of Serbia was marked until the creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croatians and Slovenians in 1918, after which it was abolished, in order to start being marked in Serbia again in 2002.
