Three bitter experiences remained behind the players of Vojvodina in the previous three rounds of the Serbian Super League. Minimal defeats by Radnik, Kolubara and TSC, which were significantly affected by their own omissions and mistakes (two red cards, unused penalty, etc.), affected the red and whites to lose the advantage they had over their closest companions and to slipp from fourth to fifth place in the table, which, with the same number of points, they currently share with Radnički Niš, the team they will face tomorrow in the 27th round of the championship.
It is clear to everyone that this match is extremely important for both teams, and can be marked as the most interesting match in the Super League this weekend. Radnički started this half-season poorly, since, after the introductory defeat by Partizan, they recorded three consecutive draws against Voždovac, Novi Pazar and Metalac, and they reached their first spring triumph only in the last round against Kolubara. It is certain that this victory gave a certain wind in the back of the popular Real from Nišava, which will have winning ambitions against the Old Lady, its direct competitor in the fight for Europe.
Radnički’s top scorer this season is striker Miljan Škrbić, who has scored nine championship goals so far, but due to a knee injury he will probably not play until the end of the championship. For that reason, the greatest danger for the defense of Vojvodina will be the young 19-year-old offensive midfielder Stefan Mitrović, the scorer of seven goals in this championship, with the last one, also victorious in that match, scored in the last round against Kolubara.
Also, the red and whites will have to pay great attention to the experienced former Red Star player Filip Kasalica, as well as to the young Nikola Štulić, a former Partizan striker. In the middle of the field, the main role in Radnički’s team is played by the Japanese international Ryohei Michibuchi, and it should be emphasized that important players of Real from Nišava are also former players of Vojvodina – midfielders Lazar Arsić and Aleksandar Mesarović and right back Nikola Aksentijević. The coach of the team from Niš is Radoslav Batak, also a former player and former Manager of Vojvodina. On the other hand, from Voša’s players, Radnički’s jersey was once worn by left back Stefan Đorđević, who just returned from there to Vojvodina in January 2020.
It is interesting that tomorrow’s game will be the jubilee 100th in the long history of the matches between these two clubs. In the 99 matches so far, the Old Lady had more success, recording 44 wins, 30 draws and 25 defeats, with a goal difference of 142-98. In the last match between these rivals, played this fall in Novi Sad, the result was 1-1, and the scorers were Lazar Arsić in the 34th minute for Radnički and Mirko Topić in the 70th minute for Vojvodina.
Tomorrow’s match at Čair starts at 5 pm, with a live TV broadcast on the Arena Sport 1 channel.
