Vojvodina’s cadets won their first prestigious tournament ’’Football friends’’ in Foča, after they defeated Borac from Banja Luka with the score 4:2.
In one of the best finals in the history of this tournament, the team from Banja Luka had the advantage twice, 1:0 and 2:1, but the chosen team of Marko Jović patiently created a draw both times, and in the very finish they took the lead, so in their second finals of ’’Football friends’’ their win was well-deserved, and they took their first ’’title of friendship’’.
Where the previous generations of ’’the old lady’’ failed, including those where now famous footballers like Sergej Milinković-Savić and Mijat Gaćinović played, the selection of cadets led by the captain Lazar Pavlović and the excellent Đorđe Petrović succeeded. Also, Đorđe Petrović was officially the best player of the tournament.
- It is a great honor to me and my teammates to win this trophy for the first time in the club’s history. For 17 years of existence of the Football Friends tournament, we are the first generation of Vojvodina who succeded in winning this title, and it is a big deal for us – Petrović said.
The coach, Marko Jović, is also proud of his team’s success.
- Our boys really deserved all this, both the ovations and the trophy, to be the first generation of Vojvodina who won in the history of this tournament, so we’ll be carrying only nice memories from Foča. We hope that among these kids there will be those who will play for the first team of Vojvodina in the near future – Marko Jović said.
