Potential Mali national team player, 27-year-old Mamadou Traoré, joined the ranks of the Old Lady this summer and already from the first game he found his place not only in the starting line-up of coach Milan Rastavac, but also in the hearts of all Vojvodina fans.
Excellent games, maximum effort and great interaction with the fans made the popular Adou very quickly become one of the favorites of the Voša audience, which also came last night in large numbers to support the new red and white team. Unfortunately for them, the Old Lady remained without a win against Spartak for the first time this season.
– I think we played well last night and tried in every possible way to win. We created a lot of chances, but we didn’t score and that’s what decided it. However, it’s all part of the game. We have to leave it behind and turn to what is coming – says Traoré.
Along with Voždovac, Vojvodina is the only team in the league that did not concede a goal in the first three rounds.
– I am generally satisfied with the three games so far, especially with how we played defensively. When you don’t concede a goal, it’s always commendable for the defense, but it’s really a credit to the whole team. I think we seem quite solid, safe and compact at the back, trying to implement all the instructions we got from our coach. I hope that our net will remain intact for many more games this season – said Traoré.
His “partner” in the defense of the Old Lady is young Igor Jeličić, a guy who grew up in the Ilija Pantelić Youth Academy, with whom he cooperates very well on the field.
– Igor is a very good player and from the first day we function as if we have known each other for a long time. We have excellent communication in English, but a little in Serbian as well. Somehow, I have the feeling that we fit in very well and I expect that it will get even better with time – emphasized Traoré.
The Manager Milan Rastavac certainly left a positive impression on him.
– We definitely have a great coach. Every player has to adapt to the coach’s requirements and ideas, including me, who in Portugal had a coach with somewhat different understandings and principles. I have already learned a lot from Rastavac and I am convinced that I will continue to learn in the future and that I will become even better over time. It’s something I’ll have to work on – says Traoré.
The fans of Vojvodina during the three rounds so far are a special story.
– Honestly, I really did not expect that the fans would give me so much love and support right from the start. Literally from the first day I arrived, I started receiving numerous messages from fans, who wished me luck and said they are glad I am here. It’s just an additional motivation for me to do my best on the field every time I put on the Vojvodina jersey. I thank them very much for everything and, on behalf of my teammates, I can promise that we will do everything we can not to disappoint them – said Traoré.
In the next round, Voša will face Radnički 1923 in Kragujevac, and that match will be played on Saturday, starting at 5:30 p.m.
