Vojvodina coach Milan Rastavac congratulated Red Star on their victory in the late match of the fifth round of the Mozzart Bet Super League of Serbia.
He also pointed out that he was satisfied with the game of his team and that the Old Lady deserved to score at least one goal, which would have changed everything.
– I congratulate Red Star on the victory. I think we showed everyone that we have an idea both before and during this game, to oppose Red Star in a real football way. I also believe that the players have shown that they have the strength, will and knowledge to deal with a strong rival. I’m sorry that we didn’t manage to score a goal, because that goal might have been missing to raise our energy and bring additional good things to the game. In general, I think that we played a good game and that we should turn to the next one as soon as possible against Napredak in Kruševac – said Rastavac.
The coach of Vojvodina believes that matches like tonight’s are necessary for the development of teams and players and for the overall development of Serbian football.
– Such matches are not only necessary, but necessary for the development of football and the game. We cannot develop the players and the game, if on the other hand we do not have that barrier and something that forces us to be better. The development of the players themselves within such matches is much greater and faster. And the last important aspect is that in this way we all prepare for what we all strive for, which is the European matches. And finally, these kinds of matches also bring a large amount of money that goes into Serbian football – said Rastavac.
He agreed that his team showed too much respect to their rival in the first half.
– It is true that the first 45 minutes were spent waiting to see how much Red Star can and will at that moment. We got through that period and we talked about it at halftime and decided to be more offensive and see what we can get from this match. We immediately created the first opportunity and I’m sorry that we didn’t realize it, but that was the sequence of events within the game – concluded Milan Rastavac.
In the next round, Vojvodina faces Napredak in Kruševac, and that match is scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m.
