Rastavac: We were rewarded for our work and effort

After his team’s victory against Napredak, the Manager of Vojvodina, Milan Rastavac, said that the red and whites were rewarded for the work and effort they put in.

In the first round of the Super League of Serbia, Vojvodina defeated Napredak at Karađorđe with a score of 1-0 (0-0).

– Just as Napredek knew what they could expect from us, we also knew what we could expect from them. Napredak does not have many things to show in its repertoire, but what it shows – it shows very well. We tried to show Vojvodina, which wants to be dominant. We talked about that before the game and I think we managed to achieve our first goal, but there are still a lot of things that need to be worked on and improved. With this victory and three points at the start of the season, we were rewarded for the work and effort we put in, but we need to continue working on our calmness, self-confidence and efficiency. I congratulate the players, and especially the fans, who were great and really supported us. I don’t remember the last time there was such a good and pleasant atmosphere – says Rastavac.

Foreigners Yves Baraye and Mamadou Traore made their debuts for Vojvodina against Napredak, both of whom were in the starting line-up.

– I think they left a positive impression. They brought a quality that was noticeable and I think we could all recognize the reason we hired them. They have experience and showed that they did not succumb to the atmosphere and the fact that this was the first game in the championship, but they also have a relatively small number of training sessions with us, because they only joined us during the preparations. However, I am happy that they brought us the quality we expect from them – Rastavac points out.

Despite his satisfaction with the game and the victory, the Manager of Vojvodina also saw some things in which he sees space for improvement.

– First of all, it is the end segment of the attack. Very often we were in situations where we had a certain advantage in the final third of the field and we wasted many such attacks without getting the chance to shoot at the goal. Also, it was seen that the team lacks the maturity to bring this game to a calmer end and dominate a little more with possession in the last minutes of the match – said Rastavac.

In the next round, Vojvodina will play as a guest with Mladost GAT at Karađorđe, and that match is scheduled for Saturday at 8 pm.
