The coach of Vojvodina, Dragan Radojičić, believes that the match with Rad in the Serbian Cup is coming at the right time for his team to get up as soon as possible and start winning.
On Wednesday, the Old Lady is visiting Rad in the quarterfinals of the Serbian Cup, and Radojičić does not want the role of the favorite, but for his players to “mobilize” and reach the much-needed victory.
– After another defeat, a new difficult match awaits us and I wanted to play it as soon as possible, so that we could try to get back on that winning track as soon as possible. The quarterfinals of the Serbian Cup are very important for us, being among the best eight in any competition is very difficult for everyone, because in that phase there are always certain pitfalls and potential surprises. After six consecutive defeats, we do not want the role of the favorite, but to mobilize and play as well as possible and to qualify for the semifinals of the Serbian Cup. We didn’t have a day off, we have been training since Sunday and we are only preparing for this game. Tradition is not on our side in Banjica, I want my players to be aware of that. Rad is not a team that is currently on the table where it belongs. They have certain problems, just like us, but the results are not a true measure of their quality. I wish for a victory that could turn the upcoming things in our favor, but now we are focused only on the Cup, we are not thinking about the championship – said Radojičić.
He still believes that Vojvodina has the quality to play attacking football and to score more goals per game.
– When I came to Voša, I said that we would try to play on half of the opponents as much as possible. We used the national team break just for that, we tried it in Kragujevac and if we had scored on time, everything would have been different. I don’t remember when Vojvodina had ball possession 75-25 in the first half, but unfortunately, goals are counted and the final result is written. That good game must bring us goals, Vojvodina must score two goals per game – Radojičić points out.
Radojičić expressed satisfaction that he will be able to count on an almost complete team tomorrow.
– The good news for us is that from today we could be complete, except for goalkeepers Simić and Bjeković, who were injured in the long run. Personnel problems have plagued us since I came, in the first game we were without Čović, who is the best player from the background in the Serbian Super League. He was also our leader on the field, but it is not worth whining about, because he finished the transfer and we can only wish him luck. Then we could not count on Veljko Simić, then Vukadinović, on whom the game of Vojvodina is based. I am glad for the young guys who came to Kragujevac who took the chance in those half hours and imposed themselves and I am glad that I will be able to count on almost all the players – says Radojičić.
Coach of Voša believes that the lack of concentration is the main problem in the game of his team.
– We are slowly getting what we want to achieve – dedication, motivation and concentration of players, which I gave them as clear rules from day one. We have commitment and motivation, but we have a problem with concentration. This is best proven when you receive five goals from mistakes, when concentration should be at the highest level. We have to correct some of the beginners’ mistakes, we conceded a goal after a free kick, and we played at least 300 such defensive situations in 10 days. Let’s just improve that concentration – Radojičić concluded.
