The coach of Vojvodina FC, Ranko Popović and the midfielder, Dejan Zukić are optimistic before the city derby with the team of RFC Novi Sad 1921.
The derby of Novi Sad is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1st at 7pm. It is the round of 16 of the Serbian Cup, and Popović believes that there are no favorites at games like this one.
– It is really nice when things like these happen, when there’s a city derby, a rivalry, but above all respect between the clubs, and us who participate. It would be nice if we all rise to the level of what is expected of us, and what the names of the clubs entail. There is no category, or a place on the scoreboard with such games. It is not an empty phrase, but simply when it comes to the city derby, it is a matter of character and prestige. It all fits into 90 minutes, and all barriers, and everything that is true in the championship fall. At this one game only a moment matters, inspiration and being there when you should be. I hope that we will be victorious. Vojvodina is the favored team, we are not avoiding that role, but we need to justify that on the pitch. And that is what I expect from my boys, to rise to the occasion, and be on the level of the club’s tradition and reputation – Popović said.
Dejan Zukić also pointed out that the games ,,won’’ in advance, are the hardest.
– After 2 decades, the rivalry between Vojvodina and RFK Novi Sad is once again on the pitch, and we would like to get prepared the best we can, and rest after the match with Čukarički. The games already won on the paper are the hardest to play, because you need to justify the expectations, and prove yourself on the pitch. We will not be fooled by the fact that Novi Sad is playing a league that is beneath ours, we want to enter the match with a 100% focus, because if we don’t give our maximum, it will be a lot harder – Zukić pointed out.
The match between RFK Novi Sad 1921 and Vojvodina is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 pm, while the live broadcast will be on Arena Sport 3.
