Today, the players of Vojvodina continued with the preparations for the upcoming Vojvodina derby against Spartak, and before the training, the former captain of the Old Lady and the current member of the champion of Belarus Shakhtar from Soligorsk, Nikola Antić, visited them in FC Vujadin Boškov.

Wearing the jersey of Vojvodina from 2015 to 2019, the popular Anta gained the sympathy of Voša’s fans because of his performances on the field, and because of his always maximally fair attitude towards the jersey and the coat of arms of the Old Lady, which is why he was gained an honor to be the team captain.

Considering that the championship in Belarus is over, he used the opportunity to come to Serbia, and he can be extremely satisfied with the previous season.

– The season in Belarus is over, and we won the title. Last season, we were not able to enter the group stage of a European competition, but we hope that we will now make a step forward on that issue and our goal is to enter at least the Conference League. Of course, we also want to win the title, the Cup and the Super Cup of Belarus – says Antić.

Of course, a stay in Serbia cannot pass without a visit to FC Vujadin Boškov.

– As soon as the opportunity presented itself, I came to visit my old friends. Now that we have made a joint picture, my emotions immediately returned and now I would like to go out on the field to train with them. There really is no greater happiness than that. It is very pleasant for me here, I am happy to be here and I hope that in some way I will help us win at home for the weekend – Antić points out.

He is a member of Shakhtar from Soligorsk in the last three years, and with that club he has won two championship titles so far, one Cup and one Super Cup of Belarus.

– When I draw the line, I can say that I am more than satisfied. During the first year, I extended the contract there, which is still ongoing, and I am very happy and proud that, as someone who came from Vojvodina, I showed that in it and in our country in general there is good work. Belarus is an orderly country and when I came, everyone accepted me normally. The mentality is similar, they are Orthodox like us, so in essence there is no big difference. My wife and child are there, so I am calm from that family side, and I am very satisfied from the football side, because we have made a lot of success, and I hope for the next step – Antić notes.

In Belarusian football, BATE Borisov has had the upper hand for years, but obviously that has changed.

– Where there is money, there are the best players, so the situation is like this at the moment. BATE has been at the top for 15 years, but now that has changed. I think that BATE received most of the money through European competitions, in which they have not been in the last two or three years, which has affected the finances, and thus the team. On the other hand, Shakhtar kept the financial aspect, maybe even strengthened it a little. Some people who brought in good players were brought in, which can be seen in the result – says Antić.

Among the players from Serbia, former Partizan player Đorđe Ivanović, former Mladost member Miloš Šatara, former Napredak player Igor Ivanović and former Proleter member Aleksa Pejić are also playing in Shakhtar, and there is another former Vojvodina player – Eze Vincent.

– Eze had a back injury, so he took a break during the last two months, but in general, this year he left a good impression on the matches he played and I think that next year, when he gets ready, he will be even better. We hang out all the time and are even roommates. Literally everything is the same as when we were here, only now we are in another country – Antić points out.

He is in contact with many players with whom he once played in Vojvodina.

– I am in contact with practically everyone I played with in Vojvodina before, mostly with Malbašić, Meleg, Lakićević, but also with these younger guys who were just entering the first team at the time – Zukić, Jeličić, Nešković, etc. I always inquire, follow and I like to watch the game, so even now I watched the last one against Voždovac. It is a pity that Simić got injured and I want him to recover as soon as possible, because he is a very good goalkeeper. Injuries are bad, but an integral part of sports. However, you come out of them even stronger and better – says Antić.

In his opinion, the current team of Vojvodina has the quality and potential to be even better in the future.

– The club has changed its policy and I think that is fine, because the younger ones should play and be given a chance to play and carry Vojvodina. Kids who train from the age of 10-11 should already understand that one day they can play in the first team, but also that the team is always expected to win here. Through Zukić and others, they should see that they can achieve that, and later go somewhere further – Antić pointed out, adding that he will come to Karađorđe on Sunday at 4 pm to support the red and whites in the match against Spartak.
