Vojvodina Football Club today officially hired another significant reinforcement for this season. As Vojvodina FC president Vojislav Gajić announced at a recent press conference, a new member of Serbian football’s Old Lady became 26-year-old Nemanja Nikolić, a striker who came in on a one-year loan from Partizan.
Nemanja Nikolić was born on October 19, 1992 in Kraljevo, and began his senior career in OFK Grbalj from Montenegro. After that, he played for Rostov (Russia), Aktobe (Kazakhstan), Spartak and Partizan, for which he played a total of 36 games last season, scoring eight goals and achieving 10 assists.
– I am glad that the clubs managed to agree and that I will wear the jersey of Vojvodina as the season progresses. Also, I would like to thank the Partizan football club for not making a problem for me to move to Vojvodina, given the traditionally large rivalry between the two teams in Serbian football – Nikolić says.
According to him, he came to the squad of the Old Lady with a great motive and desire to justify the reputation of one of the best strikers in the country.
– It is always important for a football player to be healthy, because it is a prerequisite for a successful season. I have my personal ambitions and goals, but this time I would not publicize them, because I don’t want to be misinterpreted. All I can promise is that I will do my best to justify the trust of the people who brought me to a big club like Vojvodina, which I want to help to achieve the plans it has outlined. Due to some strange circumstances in Partizan, in the last three months I have not played any significant game, so at the moment I am not 100 percent ready, but I will do my best so that I can compete equally for the squad as soon as possible – Nikolić notes.
With his arrival, Vojvodina significantly strengthened its attack, in which, due to the injury of Nemanja Čović, Nenad Lalatović can currently count only on Bojan Matić.
– Voša plays great this season, so does Matić, and of course, I wish to all my new teammates to just go on like that. I did not come to endanger anyone, but only to help a team that already has excellent chemistry, so I am glad to have the opportunity to become a part of it. Healthy competition is always welcome and we are here to help each other, because after all, it is the team that wins, not the individual – Nikolić emphasized.
Sports director of FC Vojvodina Nikola Lazetić is also happy about his arrival.
– I would also like to thank Partizan and Mr. Vazura for being very fair in the negotiations. What is important to emphasize is that Vojvodina has the right to buy the player until the end of January’s transfer window, so we are a club that decides when it comes to continuing his career. Also, Nemanja Nikolić will have the right to perform for us in all matches, including those against Partizan, and there is no clause in the contract that prevents something like that – explained Lazetić.
Nemanja Nikolić has already done his first training with his new teammates today, and in Vojvodina he will play in the jersey with number 22 on his back.
