The coach of Vojvodina FC, Zoran Kuntić said that after the victory against Mladost from Lučani, with the result 3:1 at Karađorđe, that in his team they believe that they can finish the season in the third place on the table.

Vojvodina recorded a very important triumph in Novi Sad on Sunday, thereby reaching the fourth place on the table of Mozzart Bet Super League of Serbia.

  • I think that before the previous match in Lučani, Mladost was in the third place based on the number of goals in the league after Red Star and Partizan. We are talking about an experienced team, very well composed and with a good leadership. We met with them last week, when we won, and they were in a weaker position. Today they came with their full lineup. We knew that it would not be an easy game, we entered the match somewhat distracted, until we scored the first goal. After that goal, we controlled the match, Lučani were not a threat to us. We scored our second goal and went to rest with 2 goals of difference. In the second half, the problems started after a red card that Mladost received. It was as if we received it. We simply stopped playing. They crowned their initiative with a goal, and that lasted until the penalty shot, where we secured a very significant victory. I would highlight that at this match, aside from winning, the important moment was the return of Aleksa Vukanović after more than 8 months of leave – Kuntić began.

Vojvodina played significantly better in the first half.

  • It certainly was not about taking a break. They were told at halftime that we should continue in the same way that we ended the first half, to score that third goal which would secure victory. However, the red card that Mladost received somehow distracted us and it seemed as if we were afraid to win. It was not some intentional withdrawal; it looks like we have to work on the psychological plan. We will analyze the match and talk to the players, and we wouldn’t like these situations to be repeated in the future.

 

Kuntić underlined that the team possesses enough quality to finish the season in a position that leads to Europe.

  • We had result crises more than once. I will not go way back, you know yourselves how many coaches changed this season. It is not easy for the players when such situations arise. Our goal was to enter the play-offs. We succeeded in that. I think that we have enough quality and strength to secure participation in European competitions. Of all the opposing teams that we played against, the coach of each team complimented our player pool, saying that maybe we have the best players after the Red Star. We haven’t shown that in full potential. I believe that in the remainder of the season we are ready to prove and show that we have good character. I believe that even a third place on the table is achievable.

The recovery of Uroš Nikolić progresses positively.

  • I talked to him before the match, and he said that he was pleased.

Kuntić doesn’t have any special wishes for the draw for the semifinals of the Serbian Cup.

  • I really don’t have any wishes for the semifinals. We will try to enter the finals, regardless of the opponent. We all know what it’s like to play there. No matter who the rivals is, we will try to secure the finale. I believe that everyone, especially me, remembers how we played in a beautiful atmosphere in Loznica last year, when we unfortunately lost. I have no special wishes for the semifinals – Kuntić ended his statement.
