Vojvodina has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Serbian Cup, so it will continue the fight for the cup in the spring, which it has won twice in the club’s history. Despite being behind until ten minutes before the end of the match against Javor, the red and whites first managed to equalize and go to penalties, and then, during the penalty shootout, showed greater calmness and precision, and deservedly passed through.
In the match in Ivanjica, the left back, 22-year-old Mladen Devetak, was again standard in the Old Lady’s team, assisting Miljan Vukadinović for the equalizing goal, thus recording his fourth assist this season.
– We knew that a difficult visit was waiting for us and that Javor is an unpleasant rival. Although we conceded a goal, we did not give up, we showed character and we are happy to advance to the next round. I think we were a better team and we deserved to win. The cup is a special competition for us, and Voša as a club always has great ambitions. We want to repeat the success from last year and try to raise the cup – says Devetak.
After two unpleasant defeats by Red Star and Partizan, the Old Lady quickly regained the winning rhythm, recording three victories in the period of only eight days.
– We feel that we are in the right shape, that we have found the right rhythm and we hope that we will continue like this until the end of the half-season. Although we have two difficult away games ahead of us, if we play like in Lučani and Ivanjica, I believe that we can win nine points, which would be a great end to the year – says Devetak.
Due to cards and injuries, but also the fact that the Manager Slavoljub Đorđević relatively often makes rotations in the team, Vojvodina has rarely managed to connect two or more games in the same team this half-season. However, regardless of all that, Mladen Devetak somehow settled down along the left line.
– Personally, I am very satisfied with the chance I got this fall. When I play, I am ready to give 100 percent of my abilities, because I like to fight for the team and help the team win. I missed only one game this half-season. I enjoy the trust of the staff and I will continue to work and do my best to justify it – said Devetak.
Voša will play the next match on Tuesday, when, within the 19th round of the Serbian Super League, it will face Voždovac in Belgrade at 2 p.m.
