The commemoration for the occasion of death of Vladimir Savić, a long-time member of Vojvodina FC and a member of the first generation that won the championship title, was held today in the Press room of Karađorđe stadium.
In the presence of family, friends, former teammates, and veterans of Vojvodina FC, we commemorated the man who will forever stay in the memory of all the people who are a part of Vojvodina FC.
On behalf of the club, after a minute’s silence, Petar Đurđev, a member of the Executive board of Vojvodina FC addressed those present.
- We have gathered here today to say goodbye to yet another legend of our club whom we remember not only as an amazing player, but also as a personality whose influence stretched far and wide beyond the borders of the court and the echoes of the cheering crowds’ applauding. While together we mourn the loss of Vlada Savić, we are remembering many of his achievements as a player and a coach. In Vojvodina FC, he won the championship title in 1966, and also won a golden medal with the representation at the Mediterranean Games in 1976. He was also a player of the A team of football representation of ex-Yugoslavia. He was born with the gift for football, and thanks to his talent, he made the world around him a better place. His football journey began on the dusty streets of Noćaj, and later on he played for Mačvanska Mitrovica, where his good achievements recommended him to Srem. Because of his education, he decided to pursue his further football career in Mačva from Šabac. The trained eye of Vujadin Boškov could not miss such a talented player. Savić played good games which led him to Novi Sad in that unforgettable year of 1965. His mesmerizing driblings, impeccable passes and goals that provoked awe and admiration, left the audience in disbelief. Having won the title with his Voša, he reached the quarter-finals of the Championship Cup, which was an endeavour that Vojvodina never repeated. For the duration of 8 years, Savić played 400 matches, which best shows his dedication to the club like Vojvodina. His further football development took him to German Manheim, and he ended his active professional career in Crvenka FC. His love for footaball didn’t end there, because he continued to transfer his experience to the young players as a pedagogist and a top-notch expert. He was also a coach of Sloga from Temerin, Slavija, Agrum, Bečej, Kabel, Big Bul, Cement, Radnički from Šid, Tekstilac from Odžaci. Today we say goodbye to the legend, the grand expert and above all, a good friend, honored to have been witnesses of his great personality. Once again, we thank his family for giving our club such a legend and person – stated Peter Đurđev.
The funeral of Vladimir Savić will be held today at 14:15h at the New Cemetery in Novi Sad.
