Vojvodina’s offensive player Miodrag Gemović believes that the upcoming game with Partizan is the most important in the season.
Gemović announced the replay of last year’s final of the Serbian Cup with two goals in the net of Bačka in the best possible way.
– Matches like this one with Bačka are the most difficult. A team that drops out of the league has nothing to lose. They could play unburdened, while we had the imperative to win ahead of Partizan, in order to stay in shape and keep the rhythm of victories. We took the lead very quickly, we scored two goals until the 30th minute, then we may have unknowingly relaxed and saved and thus complicated the game. We conceded a goal, but the most important thing is that we kept the advantage and that we won. Already today, we turned to Partizan and the most important game of the season – Gemović pointed out.
He believes that the current Partizan team is not much stronger than last year.
– Partizan is in great shape this spring, but I don’t think they are much stronger than this spring. The cup is specific and there are no rules, because one little thing determines the course of the match and solves the issue of the winner and placement in the next round. It is very important for us that we play in Novi Sad. I am sorry that our fans will not be there to help us, their support would be of great importance to us, because this will be a real war game – Gemović points out.
Last year’s champion in the Serbian Cup was decided by penalties, and Gemović was one of the heroes, as he hit the net with the famous “panenka”.
– Penalties are a lottery, it is very important to stay calm in moments of decision. I would not object to winning the penalties again, the most important thing is to enter the finals, because that would be the crown of this season. For Vojvodina, for the players, for the fans and everyone in our club, this is the most important match this season – concluded Gemović.
